The quieter shore

West of Takoradi the coast gets quieter. Busua has a sheltered bay and small surf; Akwidaa and Cape Three Points have long empty beaches; and old trading forts stand above fishing towns at Butre, Axim and Beyin.

From Beyin a canoe takes you across a lagoon and through reeds to Nzulezu, a village built on stilts over the water. Further west, Ankasa protects a block of wet evergreen forest that few visitors reach. (to verify) (to verify) (to verify)

Why go

For travellers who have seen the central coast and want the beach without the crowds. It suits a slow second week, or the end of a heritage journey that started at Cape Coast.
